We understand that asking for your picture may sound suspect at first. Here’s why we may ask:
As part of our overall recruitment strategy, we are constantly meeting great people in anticipation of future roles. We have found that by adding pictures (headshots are best) to our database of top candidates, we significantly improve our ability to match past candidates with new roles - because it helps us remember everything we talked about. The cliche “a picture is worth a thousand words” absolutely holds true here.
After meeting and accepting a candidate into our top candidate pool, if we can’t find a picture on LinkedIn it will be one of the things we ask for in a follow-up email. If we are asking we already love you! We just want to be sure we remember we love you when the right job opening comes along. We only use these pictures internally, and don’t share them with prospective employers. That being said, sharing a picture with us is not required to be a candidate.
